East Malaysia gets first Tesla Experience Centre in Kuching

Quick look:

  • Tesla has not forgotten about the East Malaysian market and has now opened an Experience Centre in Kuching, Sarawak.
  • The new showroom is the fifth Experience Centre in Malaysia where the public can view, test and buy the EVs.

Following the opening of the Tesla Experience Centre in Johor Bahru, the EV brand has also opened another Experience Centre in Sarawak at The Spring Shopping Mall in Kuching.

This new showroom provides a direct point of contact for customers to view and learn more about Tesla EVs as well as test-drive them.

While Tesla will set up more Supercharger public charging stations, the company says that more than 80% of its vehicle owners in East Malaysia do charging at their homes. To support owners in Sarawak, there are mobile service teams which can handle minor maintenance. For more extensive bodywork or structural repairs, owners can visit a designated Tesla Approved Bodyshop.

Tesla’s present range for the Malaysian market consists of the Model Y (priced from RM195,450) and the Model 3 (priced from RM147,600).

Unlike traditional automotive distribution networks in Malaysia that rely on independent franchise dealerships or distributor-owned branches, Tesla Malaysia operates a direct-to-consumer model. This means vehicle sales, deliveries, and official servicing are managed directly by the company which has its headquarters in Cyberjaya.
