Proton S70 RS adds sporty option to sedan range

Although virtually all the models in Proton’s current range are doing exceptionally well and extremely popular, propelling the brand to record sales numbers each month, the automaker is not depending on just standard models to sustain the positive trend.

PROTON DESIGN has been creating special editions to enhance the image of certain models, giving customers extra choices and value for money. The latest is the S70 RS, a variant which has a more sports-focused visual presence and a driver-centric cabin environment.

The ‘RS’ designation stands for ‘Refined Sportiness’, serving as an evolution of the S70’s already sporty character with the development theme of ‘Performance with Style’.

In profile, the sedan features custom-designed sporty side skirts and 17-inch alloy wheels with red brake calipers inside. The rear profile adopts a redesigned bumper, an integrated diffuser, and quad exhaust-tip finishers.

Inside, the cabin shifts toward a cohesive sporting atmosphere via a dual-tone layout punctuated by red accents, the colour often associated with high performance. Contemporary elements include a floating centre console, ambient lighting, a Commander Dial, and an Automatic Column Shifter designed to place core controls within easy reach of the driver.

The powertrain is the same as that of other S70 versions, with the powerful 4-cylinder i-GT 1.5-litre turbocharged engine mated to a 7-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission. The similar technical specifications mean the S70 RS should also have the same claimed 0 – 100 km/h time of 7.5 seconds.

Sales leadership
As the new car market heads towards the final months, sales of the S70 have continued to be strong. Total sales in October of 5,367 total units increased the cumulative 2026 volume of the model to 26,076. Sales leadership spans both the B-segment and C-segment sedan categories, led by the S70 i-GT 1.5 Lite and Prime.

Fashion showcase
To further bring the ‘Performance with Style’ theme to life, PROTON will present a fashion showcase in collaboration with a renowned local fashion designer on November 10, 2026 at 8:00 pm. The event will be livestreamed on PROTON’s official social media platforms.

Combining the 2027 PROTON S70 RS line-off reveal with an industrial-inspired runway, the showcase will spotlight the sedan’s sporty character through a bold fusion of automotive design and contemporary fashion, offering a fresh expression of Malaysia’s Sporty Sedan.
