Proton X50 Sport Edition adds extra to the Flagship version for RM1,999

Having established leadership Malaysia’s highly competitive B-segment SUV category, the X50 remains the first choice of many. After its launch during the dark period of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, it rode the wave of B-segment SUV growth and over 160,000 units have been delivered to date.

To maintain the consistent sales momentum, Proton has created the X50 Sport Edition as an option for those who want something more than what the X50 Flagship version offers.

On the outside, there’s a coordinated black treatment complemented by red accents. Key exterior elements include a black front upper garnish, black front side port trim garnish, black lower bumper garnish, and black rear side port trim garnish.

Accessories tested for durability
As with all factory-fitted accessories, Proton does extensive testing to ensure durability, especially in our hot and wet climate. In the case of the accessories on the Sports Edition, over 13,700 hours of testing have been done.

The mechanical specifications are similar to those of the X50 Flagship, with the powertrain being the latest 1.5-litre turbocharged i-GT 4-cylinder engine that produces 181 ps/290 Nm of torque with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The X50 also has 15 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) with features such as Auto Park Assist, a 360-degree HD camera with a 180-degree transparent view, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

Connectivity is managed via the Proton Link 2.0 application, which permits remote operation of select vehicle functions and provides tracking data regarding vehicle location, fuel levels, driving ranges, and trip history.

The system also integrates with some Huawei smartwatch models running HarmonyOS, allowing users to execute commands such as engine ignition, air-conditioning adjustment, door locking, window control, boot release, and horn or light activation directly from their wrist.

5-year warranty, no mileage limit
Like all X50 versions, the Sport Edition comes with Proton’s standard 5-year warranty with no mileage limit after first registration. Owners also get free labour for the first 6 scheduled service visits, and a 5-year in-car data package with 2GB per month.
