Neue Klasse BMW iX3 EV arrives in Malaysia

First revealed at the 2025 IAA Mobility Show in Germany in September 2025, the all-new BMW iX3 – first of the Neue Klasse – is now in Malaysia. The Neue Klasse introduces a new generation of BMW vehicles with a completely new dedicated EV platform.

However, the Neue Klasse will not be only for fully electric models and will encompass ICE, PHEV and even FCEV drivetrains in coming years. This is in line with BMW’s aim to give customers the ‘power of choice’.

The technological advances and design shift are so significant that it is compared to the original Neue Klasse of the 1960s that made a huge impact for BMW.

Already an award-winner
Early recognition of the significance of the model comes from being chosen as the 2026 World Car of the Year and World Electric Vehicle of the Year.

“What makes this moment significant for Malaysia is not simply that this vehicle is here but the future of the BMW brand that arrives with the introduction of the First New Vehicle from the portfolio of Neue Klasse,” said Benjamin Nagel, Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia, at the introduction of the Neue Klass today.

“As the leader in the premium segment, the BMW Group always sets the benchmark for the segment, changing what you believe is possible for vehicles in the segment. In the 1960s, the original Neue Klasse, beginning with the BMW 1500, transformed not only what BMW was capable of but the entire premium segment itself, setting the direction and benchmark for every vehicle in the segment. Today, the New BMW iX3 and the modern concept of the Neue Klasse is that vehicle for this generation,” Mr. Nagel said at his final launch event in Malaysia as he will soon move to a new position in the BMW Group.

The Neue Klasse is initially available in iX3 50 xDrive M Sport Pro, priced from RM378,800, and imported from BMW’s factory in Hungary. It has 6th-generation BMW eDrive technology built around 800V architecture and a 108.7 kWh battery integrated directly into the body structure to lower the centre of gravity.

BMW DNA
As with all Neue Klasse EV models, the ‘Heart of Joy’ central control unit high-speed supercomputer integrates drivetrain, braking, steering, and energy recovery into a single unit that processes data 10 times faster than conventional systems.

Programmed with BMW’s ‘Sheer Driving Pleasure‘ DNA, this unified control system eliminates lag for sharper handling and improved dynamic performance Up to 25% better energy efficiency is claimed.

10% lighter, 40% more efficient, and 20% cheaper to produce, the dual-motor drivetrain has an output of 345 kW (469 hp)/645 Nm and with efficient energy recovery (to recharge the battery), a range of up to 805 kms is claimed. 400 kW DC fast-charging capability can add up to 372 kms of range in 10 minutes.

Inside the iX3
Inside, the cabin introduces BMW Panoramic iDrive running on BMW Operating System X. Highlights include the 43.3-inch BMW Panoramic Vision display spanning the base of the windscreen, a 3D Head-Up Display, and a 17.9-inch Free-Cut central display.

A flattened M steering wheel incorporates contextual Shy Tech touch controls, while an upgraded AI-powered BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant adapts to driver routines.

New design language
Styling-wise, the iX3’s new design language features monolithic surfacing, an illuminated vertical kidney grille, flush door handles, and 22-inch M bicolour alloy wheels. Practicality features include 520 litres of rear cargo space (expandable to 1,750 litres) with an additional 58-litre front storage compartment.

Standard equipment includes Driving Assistant Plus, Parking Assistant Professional with remote smartphone maneuvering, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a 13-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.

The BMW Service & Repair Inclusive programme (additional RM21,000) provides a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty, along with 6 years (unlimited mileage) of scheduled service coverage. The battery has a separate 8-year warranty.

Early buyers of the iX3 50 xDrive M Sport Pro who use BMW Financial Services do not have to pay the H-P loan instalments for the first 3 months after vehicle registration.
