The Mercedes-Benz C-Class has long been among the most popular models from the German automaker, and this year, its fifth generation (launched in 2021) joins the electric era with the new C-Class Electric.
The fully electric variant, which has its own model code of W520 (the current generation’s is W206) was launched in Germany in April this year and just 7 months later, it is being previewed in Malaysia.

As a core model which has been assembled locally since the 1980s, the C-Class Electric will no doubt also be added to the assembly line at Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s facility in Pekan, Pahang. The first version to be offered in Malaysia next year will be the C 300 4MATIC Electric AMG Line Plus, with an estimated price from RM360,888, initially in CBU form.
310 kW drivetrain, 690 kms range
The C-Class Electric with 4MATIC all-wheel drive has a dual motor drivetrain with combined output of 310 kW (421 bhp)/800 Nm powered by a lithium-ion battery with 85 kWh capacity.

800V architecture boosts charging speeds which can be up to 330 kW and ‘fill’ 325 kms of range within 10 minutes. Recharging at 320 kW from 10% to 80% can be done within 22 minutes.
A range of up to 690 kms is claimed, and a rear-wheel drive version to come later has a target range of 800 kms.

Coupe silhouette
The C-Class Electric adopts the current design language of the brand, with a coupe-like silhouette, iconic grille with 1,050 illuminated dots and an expressive GT rear.

The headlights, with their star design, merge seamlessly with the grille and with the DIGITAL LIGHT headlights, there’s also a striking light signature.
Better interior space
The electric drive architecture has given the interior designers more space. At 2962 millimetres, the wheelbase is 97 millimetres longer than that of the conventionally powered C-Class sedan.

Front passengers benefit from this with 12 mm more legroom. Headroom is also generous; with the standard panoramic roof, the maximum headroom is 22 mm greater at the front and 11 mm at the rear.

The radically new interior design reinterprets the atmosphere of elegance and sportiness typical of the C-Class. Analogue and digital aesthetics merge seamlessly to create high quality. A large trim section combines the centre console with the instrument panel with dynamic sweep to create a harmonious overall work.

The MBUX Hyperscreen extends seamlessly across the entire width of the interior to provide an exceptionally immersive spatial experience.
