iCAUR is one of the youngest auto brands in the world, launched less than a year ago (April 2025) as a another global brand in the Chery portfolio. iCAUR (iCAR in China) is a collaboration between Chery and Smartmi Tech, a company which specialises in domestic appliances. Its expertise will provide a modern, connectivity-based approach to product development and create vehicles that are smart, stylish, and seamlessly aligned with how people live and explore the world today.

One of the first global markets
Malaysia is one of the first countries in the world to start marketing iCAUR vehicles, which are all fully electric. In fact, the first dedicated iCAUR dealership in the world was opened in Malaysia in August 2025.
Following the launch of the 03 as the first model in September, iCAUR Malaysia will soon add the V23 to its line-up. This model was previewed at the Malaysia Auto Show in May 2025 as part of the brand introduction.

“The iCAUR 03 set a strong foundation in Malaysia by delivering our brand’s Born to Play promise of top-tier fully electric off-road performance, advanced chassis engineering, and intuitive connectivity. Building on this momentum, the new iCAUR V23 introduces a refined blend of retro-inspired design, adventure-ready capability, and intelligent technology packages that we believe resonate strongly with the aspirations of Malaysian consumers,” said iCAUR Malaysia Marketing Director, Daniel Lai.
Retro styling, modern features
The V23 appeals to both the new generation of buyers as well as older ones with its slab-sided retro styling that mimics the off-road SUVs of earlier years while adding the features and technology of today’s vehicles – including, of course, the electric powertrain.

With dimensions of 4220 mm (length), 1915 mm (width) and 1845 mm (height) and a wheelbase of 2735 mm, the V23 is shorter than a Honda CR-V but larger than the Suzuki Jimny which also has retro looks.

The platform is designed is engineered rough real-world conditions, with MacPherson strut front suspension and a multi-link rear set-up that can handle off-road driving.
RWD and iWD
The iCAUR V23 is available with rear-wheel drive and intelligent all-wheel-drive (iWD) with distinctly difference specifications and performance levels.

The RWD version has a single rear-mounted motor producing 136 ps/180 Nm, powered by a 59.9 kWh LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery. Range is claimed to be up to 401 kms. The iWD version has motors front and rear with a combined output of 211 ps/292 Nm. The 81.8 kWh NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt) battery is said to be good for a range up to 501 kms.
For recharging, the RWD version can accept DC supply up to 85 kW while the iWD version can charge at a higher level of 104 kW for shorter times. Both SUVs charge at 6.6 kW when using AC power outlets. They also have a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability which can provide up to 3 kW of electricity to power external equipment.

Advantage of EV architecture
EV architecture differs from the architecture used for combustion engine vehicles which require space for more hardware. With an EV, a lot of electronic systems are compact and connected by thin cables. This means that in spite of being a small SUV, the V23 has more space within than you’d expect of a vehicle this size.

The interior design mirrors the exterior’s retro looks while blending with modern technology. Functionality for off-road driving – like rotary control knobs – is complemented with convenience and comfort.
One of the high-tech features is the full-HD Transparent Chassis Camera which shows a view not only around and from the top of the vehicle but also under it!

Preview only, launch later
As with other new model introductions, the model is not being launched right now and it is only being previewed to let people get a closer look and feel and decide if they want to book one before the launch that should take place before the end of the year. iCAUR Malaysia has indicated that the estimated price will be RM145,000 for the RWD version and RM155,000 for the iWD version.
