Foxtron Bria is first Taiwan-made EV for global markets

Taiwan’s Foxtron Vehicle Technologies has unveiled the Bria, which will be the first Taiwan-made EV for export. 5-year old Foxtron is a joint venture between Yulon Motor and Foxconn, which is one of the world’s largest electronics contract manufacturers in the world, making devices for Apple, Nintendo, Nokia, and Sony, to name just a few of its customers.

For global markets
While Foxtron has already developed a few EV models for sale in Taiwan, the Bria will take the brand global. For the Taiwan market, three versions will be available, priced from US$28,600 to US$36,540 (RM115,800 – RM148,000).

Body dimensions of 4315 mm length, 1885 mm width and 1535 mm height, larger than the Proton e.MAS 5 with a longer wheelbase of 2800 mm. Typical of EVs, the battery pack bumps up the Bria’s weight which is between 1,870 and 2,020 kgs.

Range up to 516 kms
Two versions will have a single motor (168 kW/229 ps) and rear-wheel drive, while the Pioneer will have dual motors (294 kW/400 ps) with all-wheel drive. From the limited information available, it is known that the Bria has a 57.7-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery which can give a range said to be 466 – 516 kms. At the maximum DC power supply level of 134 kW, recharging from 10% to 80% is claimed to be 30 minutes.

Supported by 6 front and 6 rear parking assist radars, the EV has Level 2 and Level 2+ systems for assisted driving, along with a vehicle motion controller and 360-degree surround-view (with Chassis View Function) system.

Besides EVs made in Taiwan and sold under its own brand, Foxtron will also supply an EV model to Mitsubishi Motors later this year. The new EV will be manufactured in Taiwan by Yulon Motor and, at this time, is said to be intended for introduction in the Oceania region (Australia and New Zealand) in the second half of 2026. It is part of the product plan announced last year for Australia, extending through 2030.
