Malaysian citizens are fortunate that the government subsidises petrol prices and currently maintains one litre at RM1.99 even though actual prices are going up. This benefit should not be taken for granted and should make motorists start thinking about freeing themselves from dependence on liquid fuel.

One segment has already done that – those who have switched to electric vehicles (EVs) over the past few years. These motorists have been enjoying lower running costs as they no longer buy petrol and instead use electric energy. No doubt, electricity is not free but ask any EV owner and you will hear that their running costs have become significantly lower each month. TNB’s studies show that, in Malaysia, the difference can be between 11.4% to 28.3% comparing to vehicles with petrol engines.

For EV owners, there are no concerns about rising fuel prices and as they make their balik kampung journey for Hari Raya, they will be so glad they now own an EV.

PRO-NET (Proton New Energy Technology), which manages PROTON’s New Energy and EV business, will make journeys even cheaper for its Proton e.MAS owners this festive season. With its ‘Jalinkan Raya Bersama Proton e.MAS’ campaign, owners of the e.MAS 5 and e.MAS 7 – the most popular EVs in the country – and also the e.MAS 7 PHEV can enjoy a 25% discount between March 17 and 25, 2026.

How to get the discount
To enjoy lower rates, owners have to use their Proton e.MAS (or Hello smart) apps, which everyone should have. The system has been designed for maximum user convenience, where the discounted rates are reflected automatically within the app’s interface during the promotional period. The owner just needs to select their preferred station, identify the correct connector, and complete the pre-authorisation to begin a session.

Live Charging Integrated Map
The number of charging stations which have the discounted rates is considerable as PRO-NET has been working with 10 Charge Point Operators which have a combined total of over 4,300 charging points at more than 1.400 locations nationwide. The locations are shown on the Live Charging Integrated Map in the EV and also the app, with the status of the charging point indicated (in use/not in use).

PRO-NET has worked hard to develop the Live Charging Integrated Map – available only in Proton e.MAS (and smart) EVs – which will be valuable for long journeys. No longer will an owner be stressed out trying to locate a charging station as the battery level drops. Once the location is chosen, the GPS navigation system will provide the guidance to reach it.

Additional benefits for owners
Besides this festive offer, until March 31, 2026, Proton e.MAS dealers at 36 locations are also offering a vehicle inspection for peace of mind before setting off on the journey. Additionally, the inspections include a complimentary car wash and a free charging session up to 80. And while stocks are available, you can also get complimentary Duit Raya packets.

Furthermore, those who plan ahead will receive an RM50 discount voucher for their next scheduled service, ensuring that the benefits of this Raya campaign continue to pay off long after the festive lights have been dimmed.
