Perodua and Bank Rakyat launch automotive-focused credit card

Perodua has partnered with Bank Rakyat to launch an Islamic credit card tailored specifically for automotive expenditure.

The initiative marks the Malaysian automaker’s first collaboration with a banking institution to issue a co-branded credit card. It is part of Perodua’s ongoing support for the local automotive ecosystem which also offers practical financial benefits to vehicle owners.

The Perodua-Bank Rakyat Credit Card-i integrates directly with Perodua’s digital platform, allowing cardholders to earn reward points that can be transferred and redeemed via the P-Circle mobile application.

Benefits
Designed to cover key vehicle ownership expenses, the card provides 5 times reward points on fuel, electric vehicle charging, vehicle maintenance, and takaful coverage purchases. In addition to core automotive rewards, the card benefits include zero foreign transaction fees and waives annual fees for cardholders.

There’s also complimentary takaful coverage for outstanding balances up to RM300,000 for cardholders up to 70 years of age, alongside a RM1,000 compassionate death benefit (Khairat Kematian).

Perodua emo-II EV [2024]
The design of the credit cards uses elements from the design of the Perodua emo-II concept which was the basis of the QV-E, Perodua’s first fully electric vehicle.
Two designs
There are two card designs to choose from. These aesthetic treatments draw inspiration from the Perodua QV-E concept car as well as the character TIRA from the animated feature available on the P-Circle app.

Expressing appreciation for the strong support from Bank Rakyat, Dato’ Sri Zainal Abidin Ahmad, President and CEO of Perodua, said the partnership represents a significant milestone for the automaker as it expands its customer services into financial products.

“We will also be running a special campaign to encourage our customers to apply for the Credit Card-I through exclusive Perodua Package offers,” he added.
