Proton e.MAS 7 gets updates and new sales package

Entering the second half of the year, Proton is clearly picking up the pace as it updates some of its models to maintain their appeal in a competitive market environment. Besides the X50 getting a significant change in the powertrain to a 4-cylinder engine, the Proton e.MAS has also received some updates.

Although the model is the No.1 EV this year, PRO-NET (Proton’s dedicated subsidiary for New Energy Vehicles) is not taking success for granted. Since the model was launched in December last year, it has been paying attention to all the feedback from owners (3,399 at the end of May) to find out how it can make the SUV and their ownership experience better.

Besides an exclusive Alabaster White interior for the Quartz Rose and Turquoise Green Premium variants (limited to 250 units each), smarter features are also introduced. These features are not only for new vehicles but the existing ones can also be updated with the convenient Over-The Air (OTA) update service available in every e.MAS 7.

OTA brings updates to all vehicles
With the OTA update, the e.MAS 7 now supports Apple CarPlay (wired and wireless), a long requested feature that provides convenient connectivity for iPhone users. The OTA update also enables drivers to retain their last-used settings. As for Android Auto, PRO-NET says it will be available at the end of this year.

The updated Flyme Auto operating system now offers better responsiveness, smoother integration, and support for more third party apps including Zoom for Cars, izi.TRAVEL and Vivaldi Browser.

An important change that has been long awaited is the modification of the EV’s low-speed pedestrian warning system. This is a requirement in some countries to make it safer for pedestrians because EVs move quietly. However, the sound used in the e.MAS 7 (which has been nicknamed ‘ice cream sound’) has been monotonous and irritating, but it could not be switched off or altered.

Now, in the personalisation menu, there are two additional sound profiles – Galactic Note and Space Walk – alongside the existing tone. Drivers can choose whichever they like and it will remain active unless changed again.

There is also a new tonneau cover which protects and hides belongings in the boot from outside view. This is not only in new units but will also be provided to all existing owners at no charge. That’s something you don’t find many automakers doing as usually a new feature is for new units.

Listening to customers
“We take every customer feedback seriously,” said Zhang Qiang, Chief Executive Officer of PRO-NET. “This new e.MAS 7 variant launch is a direct response to what our owners have told us—from what they love and what they want, to where we can do better. It’s not just about adding features, but refining the entire driving experience to ensure the e.MAS 7 remains personal, smart, and reliable.”
