All-new sixth generation now has Nissan e-POWER which gives the benefits of an EV without any concerns about recharging.

Assembled in Malaysia, the MPV will be launched inMarch 2026 launch with an estimated price range between RM160,000 – RM180,000.
Last month, Edaran Tan Chong Motor (ETCM) took the unusual step of previewing the all-new Nissan Serena e-POWER MPV to the media first, offering a quick test-drive to experience the significant difference with e-POWER, but with minimal information. They also requested that we limit our reporting and pictures to just the drive and basic information.
Now, after a second media drive to the East Coast, they have expanded on the information so we can show you more, especially of the interior.

Commenting on the new model, Christopher Tan, Executive Vice-President of ETCM, admitted that replacing a class-leader is challenging, especially with the Serena being so popular in its segment. “Nissan has answered the challenge with the sixth generation All-New Nissan Serena e-POWER which we present as the most advanced family MPV in Malaysia.”

The highlight of the new Serena is, of course, its electrified powertrain which Nissan developed and calls ‘e-POWER’. It’s been in use since 2016, initially in Japan and then on models sold outside Japan, and has been well proven.

The e-POWER system differs from other hybrid electric systems in that the propulsion is only by the electric motor. There is a small 1.4-litre petrol 3-cylinder engine but this is only for running the generator to recharge the battery. At no time does the engine drive the vehicle, unlike other hybrid systems.

The generator gives the Serena a self-charging capability, recharging the 1.77 kWh lithium-ion battery when necessary while running. There’s also supplementary charging from regenerative braking.
So while the Serena e-POWER runs like an EV, it does not have that need to visit a charging station at all. That gives the best of both worlds to the driver – the smoothness and strong acceleration of an EV and peace of mind driving long distances with the absence of range anxiety.
Depending on how you drive and use of the 3 drive modes (Standard, Sport and Eco), the fuel consumption can be as good as 18.5 kms/litre, with a potential range of up to 1,000 kms.

Launch in March
The new Serena e-POWER, which is assembled in Malaysia again, will be launched in March. It will be available in a Premium Highway Star version which has usually been the best equipped version of the Serena, with pricing estimated to be between RM160,000 and RM180,000. Nissan showrooms around the country have units for test-drive so ask for one here, and experience the e-POWER difference in electrified motoring.
