Lotus fans in the northern region will no longer have to travel to the Klang Valley to see the latest models of their favourite sportscar brand. They can now go to a new Lotus Store opened in Georgetown, Penang, which complements the outlets in Pavilion Damansara Heights (Kuala Lumpur) and Glenmarie (Selangor).
The third outlet of the British brand (part of the Geely Group, like Proton) is the first retail space to be located outside of the Klang Valley in 28 years of official presence in Malaysia. Although the sportscars were on sale from the 1960s, it was only when Proton acquired Lotus in October 1996 that the brand was officially represented in the market.
Lotus Store Penang has a showroom which has new models on display, with a dedicated configurator lounge. This area provides an immersive and intimate environment for prospective customers to personalize their Lotus vehicles. It is open 7 days a week, including public holidays.
Currently, the range offered for the Malaysian market consists of the Eletre SUV, Emeya and Emira, all available with various equipment levels. The Eletre and Emeya, being fully electric, currently enjoy duty-exemption which will be available till the end of 2025.
“Penang is a very important and strategic location for Lotus Cars Malaysia, and we are extremely pleased to unveil the fully operational facility in 2024,” said Lotus Cars Malaysia Executive Director, Mohamed Reza bin Abdul Mutalib.
