Largest convoy of MG vehicles in northern Malaysia

SAIC Motor Malaysia, which manages the MG brand in Malaysia, recently provided its support to a gathering for MG owners. The event, which drew around 200 participants in 66 vehicles, saw a convoy travel to Langkawi.

Organised by a MG dealership in Alor Setar, the event was the largest single-region gathering in northern Malaysia, indicating steady engagement among owners outside the Klang Valley market.

66 vehicles
The 66 vehicles were predominantly made up of the MG5 sedan, with 9 HS SUVs, a MG4 electric hatchback, and a Cyberster electric roadster.

Beyond providing a platform for owners to network and share ownership experiences, the event served as a demonstration ground for the brand’s expanding local product portfolio. Attendees were given the opportunity to test drive the locally assembled MGS5 EV, the first time many regional owners could experience the brand’s latest battery-electric SUV.

Dealer-led initiative
Emory Qi, Managing Director of SAIC Motor Malaysia, welcomed the growing momentum of MG communities beyond the Klang Valley and reaffirmed the company’s support for dealer-led initiatives.

“We are delighted to see the MG community continuing to grow across Malaysia, particularly in regions outside the Klang Valley. We are committed to supporting MG owners across Malaysia and building meaningful engagement within the community. Their positive ownership experiences and advocacy play an important role in strengthening the MG brand and inspiring greater confidence among prospective customers,” he said.

Expressing the hope that similar events would be organised in other states, he said: “We hope to see more regional gatherings take place and look forward to the day when MG owners from across the country come together for a truly nationwide MG convention.”
