GWM Malaysia introduces TANK 500 HEV Black Edition

As the GWM TANK 500 HEV gains more customers since being launched at the Malaysia Auto Show in May 2025, GWM Malaysia has received more feedback on what else is desired in the flagship SUV.

Design enhancements in black
For those who want a more premium and exclusive image, the TANK 500 HEV is now available in a Black Edition which enhances looks of the commanding SUV. This exclusive edition differs from the standard TANK 500 with various exclusive blacked-out design enhancements to give an even bolder appearance.

The black elements are:

• Darkened headlamps • Black rear bumper protector
• Black front grille • Black door handles
• Black front bumper garnish • Black 20-inch alloy wheels
• Black fog lamp garnish • Black electric side steps
• Black tail lamp garnish • Black window trim
• Black back door garnish • Black roof rail
• Black rear bumper lower guard plate • Black emblem

Similar impressive tech specs
GWM Malaysia does not mention any differences in the technical aspects, so the Black Edition also has the proven 2-litre turbocharged hybrid electric powertrain. The powertrain produces a total of 346 ps/648 Nm which goes through a 9-speed hybrid automatic transmission to all 4 wheels with an M-Lock to deliver power more effectively to the ground.

With an electric motor also providing power, fuel consumption is reduced, extending the range on a full tank of fuel. And being a HEV, no manual recharging is needed as the battery is recharged while the vehicle is on the move. So the TANK 500 can be driven long distances without ‘range anxiety’ as there are petrol stations all over.

Engineered for the toughest off-road missions, the TANK 500 has an Intelligent All-terrain system with 11 driving modes. Thanks to its TANK Turn feature, the turning circle can be reduced while Off-road Cruise Control reduces driver fatigue when travelling off the highway.

RM8,000 for exclusivity
Priced at RM336,800, the Black Edition costs RM8,000 more than the standard TANK 500 HEV. Early customers will receive an exclusive Limited Edition Premium Gift Set as a token of appreciation.

Every unit comes with a lifetime warranty on engine, transmission and HEV system (exclusive to first-hand private owners); power battery warranty of 8 years (maximum 200,000 kms); 6 years unlimited mileage vehicle warranty; and free scheduled maintenance during the first 5 years after registration.
