EV charging points now available at selected Pos Malaysia outlets

Pos Malaysia Berhad, a member of the DRB-HICOM Berhad Group, has set up charging stations for electric vehicles (EVs) at a number of its post offices in Peninsular Malaysia. The initiative is in collaboration with Yinson Greentech (YGT) which provides the equipment and installation.
6 locations to start off
The EV charging stations, available daily from 7 am to 11 pm are located at six post offices in Shah Alam, Ipoh, Melaka, Seremban, Alor Setar and Johor Bahru. They join YGT’s network of charging points at over 600 locations nationwide.
DC fast chargers
At the Pos Malaysia outlets, the charging stations consist of 1 DC charger with two CCS2-type connectors for fast charging with 40 kW power supply. Depending on the model, charging an EV battery pack up to 80% will take between 60 and 90 minutes.
In parallel with this development and recent net-zero goals, Pos Malaysia recently deployed over 40 e-Bikes to deliver mail and parcels across the Klang Valley carbon-free. By the end of 2023, it aims to have a combination of more than 200 e-Bikes and 140 e-Vans in its fleet for use across Peninsular Malaysia.
“By collaborating with an esteemed partner like Yinson, we can drive positive change in the realm of sustainable transportation and reduce range anxiety for EV users as we make EV charging stations available at our post offices,” said Charles Brewer, Group CEO of Pos Malaysia Berhad.
This initiative also aims to encourage EV users to explore Pos Malaysia’s diverse range of
offerings while charging their vehicles at PO outlets.
10,000 charging points by 2025
The government has set a target of 10,000 EV charging points nationwide by 2025. These will be set up by the private sector with companies selling EVs expected to also provide such facilities. The target has 9,000 charging points with AC power supply and 1,000 with high-speed DC supply. This year, the network is expected to grow by 4,000 charging points for EVs and plug-in EVs.
