If you look at official paperwork, Enzo Ferrari’s date of birth in Modena, Italy (yes, he was really born there,not Melaka) is shown as February 20, 1898. However, it has always been known that he was actually born on this day – February 18. As the story goes, a massive Italian snowstorm trapped his father at home, preventing him from reaching the registry office for two days.
And 90 years later, the same discrepancy occurred! Although he passed away on August 14, 1988, the world outside his home was not told till two days later. It has never been known if this was a family request or Enzo’s own instructions. It seems that at birth and at death, he managed to keep the world guessing about his ‘departure schedule’ right until the very end!
