After 23 years since being established, BMW Group Malaysia will have a Malaysian as its Managing Director. Raymond Tan Chor Ann, who will take on the role, is no stranger to the company as he was among the pioneer group when the sales and marketing subsidiary of the German automaker began operations in Cyberjaya.
Mr. Tan has been with BMW for a long time, having started at BMW Group Malaysia as Product and Price Planning Manager. Prior to that, he also had experience in the auto industry, with involvement in Proton and the development of the Proton Satria GTI being among them.

Various roles in BMW Group
Over the past 23 years, besides Malaysia where he has been Head of Marketing and then Head of Sales, he has had various roles and strategic functions in key markets across the Asia-Pacific region and the company’s headquarters in Munich, Germany. He is currently the Managing Director of BMW Group Importer Region Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr. Tan said: “I am excited to return to Malaysia to lead the National Sales Company as the first local Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia, particularly at this pivotal moment as the BMW Group prepares for a new era with the upcoming introduction of the Neue Klasse range of models. My priorities will be to further develop the business, professionalise the retail network, strengthen customer loyalty, and to continue positioning the BMW Group as the premium brand of choice in Malaysia.”

New role for Benjamin Nagel
Benjamin Nagel, the present Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia, will move with his more than two decades of international leadership experience within the BMW Group to the role which Mr. Tan had.
His tenure in Malaysia represented an important chapter in this journey, marked by a strong focus on customers, dealer partners, employees and stakeholders, as well as key priorities including electrification, digitalisation, customer experience and network development.
“I am honoured and excited to take on this new opportunity with the BMW Group to oversee the Importer Markets of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao. Having had the privilege of leading BMW Group Malaysia, I look forward to bringing the insights and experience gained in Malaysia to these dynamic importer markets, while continuing to strengthen customer focus and premium brand positioning. My priority will be to drive sustainable Malaysia growth, deepen long-term relationships with customers, business partners and employees, and build on the strong foundations established across the region,” he said.
