eRacing GP to run 12 Hours of Spa virtual endurance race this Saturday

The virtual motorsport scene in the region will see its next major endurance challenge as eRacing GP prepares to host the 12 Hours of Spa. Scheduled for this Saturday July 18, the event will see regional sim racing teams converge on the digital reproduction of the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps for a continuous 12-hour test of strategy and driver coordination.

Multi-class format
The race will feature a diverse multi-class format divided into 3 categories: Hypercars (GTP), LMP2, and GT3. This structure introduces the traditional endurance racing element of traffic management, as top-tier prototypes navigate around the production-based sportscars on the historic Belgian circuit.

Teams competing in the premier Hypercars class have selected machinery from 4  available manufacturers – BMW M Hybrid V8, Cadillac V-Series.R GTP, Ferrari 499P, and Porsche 963 GTP. The LMP2 category operates as a spec class, with all entrants utilizing the Dallara P217 prototype.

The GT3 category will have the largest portion of the grid, offering 6 distinct vehicle platforms to suit different team set-ups and driving styles. Teams have prepared the BMW M4 GT3 EVO, Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R, Ferrari 296 GT3, McLaren 720S GT3 EVO, the 2020-spec Mercedes-AMG GT3, and the Porsche 911 GT3 R (992).

30 teams, 5 countries
More than 30 teams from at least 5 countries are confirmed for the grid. Notable entries include Singapore’s Aleef Hamilton, who will pair up with Malaysia’s Alister Yoong. They will face stiff opposition from reigning Endurance Edition champions Apex Racing Brunei, as well as Thailand’s OVERME.team, led by Thanprasit Sartsuk. Malaysia’s Pepega Racing is mounting a significant campaign by entering three separate teams, featuring former TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Rookies Justin Rahul Dev and Genevieve Ooi.

According to eRacing GP founder Alex Yoong, the event focuses heavily on rewarding consistent preparation, team coordination, and adaptability to changing track conditions rather than outright single-lap pace alone.

The event has also attracted commercial interest from Royal Selangor as the event partner. The 141-year old Malaysian company well known for pewter, jewellery and silverware has crafted a set of bespoke pewter trophies for the podium finishers in all 3 classes.

The 12 Hours of Spa is scheduled to flag off at 11:00 am on July 18, with full live streaming coverage broadcast via eRacing GP’s official social media channels.
