JETOUR Auto Malaysia launches T2 as third model in range

Quick look

  • The T2 is the third model launched by JETOUR AUTO Malaysia. Like the DASHING and VT9, the SUV is also assembled locally at a plant in Johor.

  • Where the DASHING and VT9 are crossovers (or family SUVs, as JETOUR refers to them), the T2 is a more rugged classic SUV with all-wheel drive and good off-road capability. However, it has a monocoque structure and not a ladder-frame chassis.

The SUV trend started in the 1990s and over time, as the segment rapidly grew, SUVs evolved into crossovers – SUVs that were more highway-oriented with a bit of off-road capability. In many models, there was only front-wheel drive, which hardcore SUV enthusiasts consider inadequate for serious off-roading.

However, in China, there original concept of the SUV continued with a separate category known as Off-Road Vehicles. These are as comfortable as any modern SUV and crossover but have more capability in off-road conditions with all-wheel drive and a tougher body structure.

JETOUR has such models in its range and today, it has officially launched the T2, a C-segment SUV with rugged looks and genuine off-road capability. Launched under the brand’s ‘Travel+’ philosophy, the T2 enters a growing segment of adventure-oriented vehicles in Malaysia, positioning itself as a monocoque-chassis alternative to more traditional ladder-frame off-roaders.

The model (assembled locally at a plant in Johor) arrives in the Malaysian market with a price of RM156,800 (excluding insurance). The first 3,000 customers get a RM2,000 rebate. To bolster consumer confidence, the T2 is backed by a 6-year/unlimited mileage vehicle warranty with up to 10-years or 1 million kms coverage for the engine alone. Bookings are currently open with a reservation fee of RM1,000.

“The launch of the JETOUR T2 represents a significant milestone for JETOUR in Malaysia. Guided by our Travel+ philosophy, we create vehicles that seamlessly integrate mobility, lifestyle and exploration to support both everyday mobility and meaningful journeys.” said Ke Chuandeng, President of JETOUR International.

Emphasising that Malaysia is a strategic market for the company, Mr. Ke said JETOUR is committed to building long-term trust through product excellence and meaningful local partnerships.

Visually, the T2 is defined by its upright silhouette and muscular proportions – the classic look of SUVs. The exterior features matrix LED headlamps and a distinctive illuminated ‘JETOUR’ signature on the grille.

Utility-focused details, such as the rear-mounted spare wheel (another classic SUV feature) and angular body lines, are balanced by modern touches like the light ray LED taillamps and 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 255/60 R19 rubber.

The T2 is powered by a 2-litre turbocharged direct injection 4-cylinder petrol engine with an output rated at 245 ps/375 Nm. Power delivery is managed via a 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission going to all 4 wheels through JETOUR’s proprietary Intelligent XWD system. There’s a large 70-litre fuel tank so, with the claimed 12.7 kms/litre consumption, the range should be around 890 kms before refuelling is needed.

The all-wheel-drive XWD system is a central feature of the T2’s mechanical package, offering 7+X drive modes. These modes are designed to automatically adapt torque distribution based on real-time terrain feedback. The system aims to provide stability and traction across various environments, ranging from urban tarmac to more demanding rough and uneven surfaces.

The interior layout emphasizes refinement through the use of leatherette upholstery and front memory seats with a ‘welcome’ function. Given Malaysia’s typically hot weather, the inclusion of ventilated front seats will be welcome. The sense of cabin airiness is further enhanced by a panoramic sunroof and customizable multi-colour ambient lighting.
