GWM’s second model assembled in Malaysia – the WEY G9 – today rolled out from the EP Manufacturing Bhd (EPMB) plant in Melaka. To be launched in early 2026 after stocks are built up and thorough quality checks are completed on each unit, the G9 is the first premium MPV from a Chinese brand to be assembled locally.
Local assembly of a second model demonstrates GWM’s confidence in Malaysia’s capability to support high value automotive manufacturing, technology transfer and regional supply chain development. The automaker is committed to supporting localisation, industry development and contribute to local talent growth as well as vendor development.
