With the Proton e.MAS 7 now being assembled in Malaysia at PROTON’s manufacturing complex in Tg Malim, Perak, the automaker can step up exports to other countries and shipments are now going to Mauritius.
Proton International Corporation handles the export business and in Mauritius, PROTON’s business partner is the Autonexx Group. With over 35 years of experience in the Mauritian automotive industry, Autonexx has been a trusted partner in strengthening PROTON’s brand presence and customer confidence on the island which has a population of around 1.3 million.

Fourth export market
The island nation is the fourth market outside Malaysia to sell PROTON’s first fully electric model which was launched in the domestic market at the end of 2024. To date, over 6,500 units have been sold in Malaysia and overseas.

Besides being the bestselling EV in Malaysia this year, the e.MAS 7 has very quickly become the brand’s third bestselling export model after the Saga and X50. PROTON aims to grow export volume to 250,000 units in coming years.

Strengthening international presence
“The introduction of the e.MAS 7 in Mauritius forms part of PROTON’s ongoing strategy to expand its EV portfolio across global markets. Each new entry strengthens our international presence and reflects PROTON’s capability to deliver vehicles that balance technology, performance and value. The EV plant in Tanjong Malim will enable PROTON to develop the next generation of electric models for the world,” said Edmund Lim Meng Thong, CEO of Proton International Corporation.
