Range Rover line-up to get GT variant as fifth model

Range Rover, one of the three brands under the Land Rover umbrella, will soon add a fifth model line with the launch of the Range Rover GT.

The new model will initially be offered as a battery electric vehicle (BEV) but this isn’t Range Rover’s first fully electric SUV. The first was the Range Rover Electric which went on sale in December 2023, with official order books opening in late 2026 ahead of initial customer deliveries that are planned for the fourth quarter of 2026.

The Range Rover GT uses JLR’s (Jaguar Land Rover) Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA), a vehicle platform developed as part of JLR’s Reimagine strategy. It is not only for BEVs but can also be used for electrified powertrains like PHEVs or REEVs. The latter will be available later in the model’s lifecycle.

Reductive interior design
Inside, the cabin follows a reductive design philosophy aimed at reducing visual clutter and acoustic disturbance. The instrument layout avoids the traditional cluster in favour of a new driver display combined with a single central infotainment screen.

A continuous concealed air vent spans the full width of the dashboard, creating a horizontal visual line across the cabin. To further streamline the interior, a tactile woven textile material wraps around the dashboard gesture, integrating hidden audio speakers beneath the fabric layer.

Real-world testing
Camouflaged prototype units of the Range Rover GT are currently undergoing final evaluation on public roads. The camouflage wrap created by the in-house design team features flowing gold lines derived from local topographic contours, combined with digital graphics that reflect the electronic systems integrated into the new architecture.

The result is the most car-like, yet unmistakably capable, Range Rover ever created, now possible on our electrified EMA architecture – complementing our existing powertrain portfolio to deliver a complete set of options for every customer need,” he said.
