Proton is making a comeback in the Singapore market with its first electric vehicle, the e.MAS 7. As a prelude to the Malaysian brand’s return, the EV will be displayed at a sneak preview for the public at The Car Expo 2025 at Singapore Expo this weekend.
Proton’s return to Singapore is timely, aligning with the island nation’s accelerating transition to green mobility. Singapore’s EV market share has steadily increased from 12% to 18% of the total automotive industry volume between 2022 and 2023. Projections show an increase to 55% by 2027.
To support this shift, Singapore aims to establish at least 12,000 EV charging points in approximately 2,000 HDB carparks by 2025, increasing to 60,000 by 2030. Additionally, the government is aiming to shift 100% of vehicles to run on cleaner energy by 2040, contributing to Singapore’s net-zero emissions goal by reducing land transport emissions.

The return of Proton after an absence of over a decade is in collaboration with the VINCAR Group, a newly appointed authorised distributor. For the Singapore market, the C-segment e.MAS 7 will be available in 6 colours: Platinum Silver, Turquoise Green, Slate Grey, Quartz Rose, Lithium White and Moyu Black. Both the Prime and Premium versions will be offered.
“The debut of the Proton e.MAS 7 in Singapore marks a significant step in our international expansion and our commitment to bringing high-quality, technologically advanced EVs to the region,” said Dr. Li Chunrong, CEO of Proton. “We are confident that the e.MAS 7, with its compelling features and suitability for urban environments, will resonate well with Singaporean drivers as the nation embraces electric mobility.
