In support of Malaysia’s Low Carbon Mobility Blueprint (LCMB) 2021–2030 which will see the country’s transition to a low-carbon future, two car companies have provided the Ministry of Transport (MoT) with fully electric vehicles for the ministry to assess the use of EVs and hybrid electric vehicles in Malaysian conditions. The findings will contribute valuable insights to national EV infrastructure planning and policy formulation.
PRO-NET, Proton’s subsidiary handling the New Energy Vehicle business, provided the Proton e.MAS 7, along with a smart #1 and smart #3. By using these vehicles in local conditions, government stakeholders will gain a hands-on experience to understand vehicle performance, range, and the potential of EV technology.

Meanwhile Leapmotor Malaysia (a unit in Stellantis Malaysia) handed over two units of the C10 SUV. With the two vehicles in use over a 3-month period, MoT officials will be able to assess the performance, practicality, and readiness of EVs and hybrid vehicles within Malaysia’s transportation landscape.
