Local assembly of Leapmotor C10 and B10 fully electric SUVs is underway at Stellantis Malaysia’s Gurun manufacturing facility in Kedah. To localize production, Stellantis ASEAN invested 5.3 million euros (around RM24.9 million) in the 22-year old plant which was acquired from the NAZA Group a few years ago.
The additional investment was used infrastructure upgrades and assembly line integration, particularly for electric vehicles which have never been assembled at the plant before.

Global quality standards
Operating under a global joint-venture framework between Stellantis and Leapmotor, the Gurun operations adhere to centralized quality control and manufacturing compliance processes to ensure that Made-in-Malaysia vehicles are of the same high global standards.

Assembling in Malaysia is a core pillar of the Stellantis’ strategy to grow localized manufacturing capabilities, establish regional industrialization hubs, and capture growing market share across ASEAN electric mobility segments.

The strategic expansion coincides with accelerating global sales momentum for Leapmotor International (the Stellantis-led joint venture company for business outside China).
In August 2026, the brand reported record global deliveries of 103,129 units, marking an 80.72% year-on-year growth trajectory and reaching its fifth consecutive monthly record. Cumulative global deliveries reached 560,883 units, positioning Leapmotor among top-tier global NEV (New Energy Vehicle) manufacturers.
Competitive prices
Local assembly offers savings in production costs, while incentives from the government also help to offset costs so that the retail price can be competitive. And with the new conditions set by MITI for CBU imports (not less than RM200,000 CIF), Leapmotor EVs can also be sold at prices below RM200,000.
