TQ Manufacturing (TQ), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tan Chong Motor Holdings Berhad (TCMH) is making steady progress with its project to assemble the TQ WULING Bingo EV. The project started with the signing of a strategic partnership between TCMH and SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGM Wuling) in May 2025.
In this partnership, which sees the creation of the TQ WULING brand for the Malaysian market, the extensive manufacturing expertise of TCMH (going back to the 1970s) will be leveraged, along with the distribution network it has built up in more than half a century of business.

To be priced under RM100,000
From SGM Wuling will come the products beginning with the Bingo which is a city EV that is expected to be priced below RM100,000. Local assembly is now in the preparatory phase and the model will have its official launch before the end of this year.
The price should be maintained even though the duty-free incentive for EVs will end on December 31, 2025. However, fully electric models which are assembled in Malaysia will continue to be exempted from import and excise duties, as well as sales tax, until December 31, 2027.

Those who were at the 2025 Malaysia Auto Show in May got a first look at the Bingo, and this month, TQ WULING is having the #HelloTQWBingo Tour to introduce the EV more widely around the country. The locations will be in Selangor, WP Kuala Lumpur, Johor and Penang between July 4 and Auguat 17, 2025.
“We had an overwhelming response to the TQ WULING Bingo EV at the Malaysia Auto Show, and now we’re bringing that excitement directly to Malaysians nationwide. That’s the spirit driving the #HelloTQWBingo Tour – giving people a chance to experience the car first-hand and understand why this model matters in making EVs more accessible to more Malaysians,” said Wan Wei Sun, Head of Business, TQ Manufacturing Sdn Bhd.
Bingo EV on sale since 2023
Developed with the expertise of SGM-Wuling, which has sold over 2 million EVs, the Bingo has been on sale since 2023. While TQ WULING has not released information about the model, it is known that there will be 2 versions offered with different capacities of Wuling’s proprietary MAGIC EV battery. The ranges are said to be 333 kms for the smaller battery and 410 kms for the larger one.

The 5-door hatchback with a front-mounted motor has a length of 3950 mm and width of 1708 mm, which makes it just slightly larger than a Perodua Myvi. Its wheelbase is also 60 mm longer than the Malaysian car. The battery pack adds significant weight to EVs so the Bingo’s weight can be up to 1,185 kgs, whereas the heaviest Myvi of the current generation is 1,025 kgs.
