GWM at the Penang Autoshow 2026

Quick look:

  • GWM Malaysia will be showcasing not just its diverse range of models but also the brand’s advanced technologies.

  • Organized by MARii, this is the first time the autoshow is presented outside the Klang Valley.

GWM will have a strong presence at the upcoming Penang Autoshow 2026 at the end of this week, showcasing a comprehensive line-up that encompasses its ‘All Powertrain, All Scenario’ global strategy.

Anchored by the theme ‘For every user, for every journey’, GWM is looking to show how its diverse product offerings can meet the varied requirements of Malaysian buyers.

Visitors to the GWM Malaysia stand will be able to see the extensive breadth of the brand’s advanced engineering capabilities and technologies. While some automakers focus solely on a single energy source, GWM is looking at different types of powertrains to give customers a choice. Besides the Internal Combustion Engine, GWM also has hybrid electric powertrains as well as fully electric powertrains.

TANK 300 HEV
One of the highlights will be the new TANK 300 HEV, an addition to the TANK range of off-road SUVs. Besides this hybrid electric vehicle, there is also the HAVAL H6 HEV, a very popular HEV model at the moment which is assembled in Melaka.

The TANK 300 has been in the Malaysian market for over a year, and will now have a more energy-efficient hybrid electric version also available.

For those seeking luxury for the family, the WEY G9 premium intelligent hybrid MPV will demonstrate how high-end mobility can be combined with sustainable tech.

The fully electric side of the brand will be represented by the ORA brand which has the Good Cat and Good Cat GT models. These models continue to lead GWM’s urban EV charge.

ORA Good Cat offers fully electric motoring.

This local push continues the momentum from Auto China 2026 in Beijing, where GWM recently presented its GWM ONE platform. This modular architecture allows for 95% parts commonality across different powertrain types, ensuring global quality with local relevance.

Beyond the Klang Valley
“The Penang Autoshow 2026 is more than just a regional event. It reflects how Malaysia’s automotive landscape is expanding beyond Klang Valley into a truly national platform,” said Roslan Abdullah, Chief Operating Officer of GWM Malaysia.

“As Penang and the Northern region continue to grow as key mobility markets, we see strong demand for versatile solutions that support different lifestyles and driving needs. Through this platform, we aim to showcase how our all-powertrain, all-scenario line-up delivers relevance across everyday use cases, while offering a more immersive way to experience our vehicles beyond traditional showrooms and brochures,” he said.

“What we are showcasing in Penang is not just a product line-up, but a reflection of a much larger global capability. This allows us to deliver relevant, high-quality solutions tailored to Malaysian users while backed by world-class engineering and scale,” added Cui Anqi, Managing Director of GWM Malaysia.
