Bridgestone is official tyre-supplier for Formula E

Bridgestone Corporation will be the official sole tyre supplier for the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, marking its global return to top-level FIA single-seater racing.

The official supply agreement begins with the 2026/27 season — Season 13 of the fully electric series — which is scheduled to commence in December 2026 and run through July 2027 with a total of 21 races globally.

Also title sponsor for some rounds
Bridgestone will also act as the title sponsor for 4 race weekends in the 2027 calendar, including rounds in Mexico City, Berlin, Shanghai, and the season finale in Tokyo. Some of the venues will host two rounds during the weekend.

First launched in 2014, Formula E was established as the world’s first fully electric FIA international championship, operating as a high-speed development environment for EV powertrains. Over its 12 seasons, the championship has been run at international circuits and on temporary street tracks in major cities.

The Japanese tyremaker has been working closely with the Formula E racing teams which have developed the GEN4 car. It is the most powerful and fastest machine in Formula E history, generating peak output of 600 kW (815 bhp) with permanent active All-Wheel Drive. In tests, the racing car has accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in 1.8 seconds and reaching a top speed of 335 km/h.

Tyres specially for Formula E
For such extremely high performance demands, Bridgestone has developed the Potenza GEN4 dry tyre along with a specialized wet-weather variant designated as the Potenza GEN4 for Typhoon Tyre.

The dry tyre is engineered for high grip over diverse global road surfaces and varying temperature conditions, while the wet variant features aggressive tread geometry to evacuate water from under the tyres maintain vehicle stability under heavy rain.

Recycled and renewable materials
In alignment with Formula E’s environmental mandate, Bridgestone incorporates a 65% ratio of recycled and renewable materials into the Potenza GEN4 tyres, utilizing carbon black extracted from tyre pyrolysis oil and silica derived from rice husk ash.

Natural rubber used in production is sourced through verified sustainable supply chains. Manufacturing takes place using 100% renewable energy for thermal and electrical requirements, alongside low-carbon logistics arrangements.
