Proton e.MAS – young brand but already dominant in EV segment

Quick look:

  • Fuelled by growing interest in electrified vehicles, PRO-NET is seeing impressive sales growth for its young Proton e.MAS brand.
  • Expanding its aftersales network is a priority to ensure that the increasing number of owners can have easy access to support services.

You’ve probably noticed more EVs on Malaysian roads over the past year and many of those you see are Proton e.MAS models – the e.MAS 5 and e.MAS 7, along with the e.MAS 7 PHEV. The notable presence of Proton’s New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) is clear evidence of the dominance of the young brand.

Young but already dominant brand
According to PRO-NET, the NEV subsidiary of PROTON, total sales of its electrified models has surged 329.5% in the first 4 months of 2026, compared to the same period in 2025. With 11,617 units delivered nationwide, it is the dominant electric mobility brand in the Malaysian automotive sector.

This impressive sales growth is being fuelled by rising consumer interest in electrified vehicles among Malaysians, who are increasingly assured that issues which discouraged ownership before are diminishing. It’s a fundamental shift in buyer confidence which supports the government’s push towards electrification in the transport sector.

Network expansion
As the number of EVs grows, PRO-NET is expanding its sales and aftersales network as fast as possible to ensure that owners are fully supported wherever they are.

With two new outlets in Kuala Lumpur, the total number of Proton e.MAS sales outlets is now 53 nationwide, positioning it as one of the most widespread NEV dealer networks in the country.

“The rapid growth of Proton e.MAS in Malaysia is driven not only by the strength of our product lineup, but also by the confidence customers have in our sales and aftersales ecosystem,” said Zhang Qiang, CEO of PRO-NET. “By establishing a strong support structure alongside every model launch, we can give customers greater reassurance about the long-term ownership experience while strengthening brand loyalty and advocacy.”

The company targets ongoing network expansion to capture a broader share of potential EV buyers while addressing the core demands of today’s market: accessibility, reliable aftersales assurance, and robust charging support.
