Quick look

    • Sony Honda Mobility, a joint venture, will have a second EV model which will be a SUV and is being displayed at CES 2026.

    • The first model, the AFEELA 1 sedan, will start production and delivery this year, with exports to Japan next year. It will be made in America.

AFEELA, the brand (or is it a model line?) of the Sony-Honda joint venture known as Sony Honda Mobility (SHM) has been making steady progress towards starting deliveries of its first fully electric sedan, the AFEELA 1, this year.

The model will be produced at a Honda factory in America and initially be offered in California. In 2027, it will also be offered in Arizona and exported to Japan.

As SHM moves towards sales activities, it has also unveiled a second model at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, This is the AFEELA Prototype and is a SUV based on the AFEELA 1. For now, no technical details have been revealed but it will have the core concept of AFEELA 1 while offering greater spatial flexibility and accessibility.

The AFEELA SUV is likely to share many features already shown for the AFEELA 1. These would include built-in Remote Play – a first in the car industry – which allows streaming  PlayStation games to other screens. As long as the car is in a location with a strong 5G signal, playing in the back seat should feel like playing on the couch at home.
