The Volvo EC40 is now available with a single rear-mounted electric motor producing 175 kW (238 hp)/420 Nm. The locally-assembled EV is priced from RM248,888, which is RM40,000 less than the twin-motor AWD EC40.
The single-motor EC40 comes with a 70 kWh battery pack with a claimed range of up to 488 kms. Recharging from 10% to 80% is said to take 26 minutes with a high-powered DC charger.
A new Sand Dune exterior colour features a warm metallic tone with glass flakes that sparkle in the sun, inspired by the dunes of Sweden’s west coast. First introduced on the EX90, this finish is offered as an option on the EC40 alongside Aurora Silver, Onyx Black and Crystal White.
Inside, the latest EC40 has a leather-free interior with Charcoal Connect suede textile and Charcoal Microtech for a premium yet sustainable cabin. The interior decor design has also been updated with Cutting Edge accents on the dashboard and door panels for a sharper look.
The driver gets Volvo’s next-generation user interface that debuted in the EX30. This has easier, more intuitive controls with less taps to access the most common functions in the car. The new interface is managed with Google built-in on a 9-inch centre display, while the driver has a 12.3-inch display as an instrument panel.
For a limited time, Volvo Car Malaysia is offering purchasers of the new EC40 free insurance coverage for the first year (worth up to RM5,600) and a voucher worth RM5,000 for use to purchase a wallbox AC charger.
