Tesla is fighting it out at the top of the sales charts with BYD in the Malaysian EV market (elsewhere too) and with competition heating up, the automaker is now offering a RM10,000 rebate on its new EVs for those who trade-in vehicles with combustion engines.
‘Uplift’, not rebate
Tesla Malaysia doesn’t refer to it as a rebate, though, and calls it an ‘uplift’ as part of its ‘EV Switcher Program’. The company says this is a limited-time offer (vehicle must be delivered by December 31, 2024) to help accelerate the transition to sustainable transportation in Malaysia.
“By offering a substantial incentive, Tesla encourages consumers to make the switch, significantly reducing their carbon footprint and contributing to a cleaner environment,” the company said.
How to get the uplift
Those wishing to get the incentive can first obtain a value for their vehicle at Tesla’s online channel. If they are agreeable, they can then place a booking at the price which will incorporate the RM10,000 discount… sorry… uplift. A test-drive can also be requested at 5 locations around Malaysia.
Prices start from RM181,000 (Model 3) and if financing is required, Tesla has a program with 0% interest and 10% minimum downpayment.
