Proton has added two more choices to the S70 sedan model line in the form of Lite and Prime versions. While overall dimensions and platform, along with cabin packaging which allows 3 persons to sit comfortably at the back, the powertrain is different in that it has no turbocharger.
Non-turbo engine
The i-GT 1.5-litre 4-cylinder engine, made in Malaysia at the PROTON factory in Perak, is also used in the latest Saga. Although the output numbers are not provided at this time, the unit installed in the S70 should be similar and produce around 120 ps/150 Nm. Power delivery goes to the front wheels through a CVT with 3 selectable drive modes.

Same driving dynamics
With similarities in platform and architecture, as well as localised chassis tuning, Proton says that the S70 Lite and Prime will have the high standard of Ride & Handling dynamics which have long been a strong point of the brand.

Equipment levels remain competitive relative to the price point. Tech features include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, remote engine start, an Electric Parking Brake (EPB) with Auto Brake Hold, all-round auto up/down power windows, and 5 USB ports.
Comfort is enhanced by leatherette seats, while the premium feel of the cabin is maintained by a soft-touch instrument panel and thoughtful interior detailing. NVH (noise, vibration and harshness) of the S70 is also low and class-leading, creating a quieter cabin that makes each journey more enjoyable.

Safety equipment is also comprehensive with no less than 6 airbags, front and rear parking sensors and a reverse camera. Driver assistance systems are limited to Blind Spot Detection with Rear Side Radar, Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Door Opening Warning, and Rear Collision Warning.
More affordable option
With estimated pricing to be under the RM60,000, the addition of these new versions makes the S70, Proton’s C-segment sedan representative, more affordable. The move follows steady growth in S70 sales since being originally launched in November 2023. Proton reports that average monthly sales have exceeded 2,500 units throughout 2026.

Bookings are now accepted at all authorised Proton dealerships nationwide. Early buyers whose cars are registered by December 31, 2026 will qualify for a reward scheme which will be disclosed during the launch.
