Proton e.MAS 7 stays on top of the EV chart

Seven months into 2025 and eight months since its launch, the Proton e.MAS 7 remains the bestselling model in the EV segment. PRO-NET (Proton New Energy Technology, the PROTON subsidiary handling New Energy Vehicles) reports that sales remain strong, and bookings are being consistently received.

As at the end of July 2025, a total of 4,689 e.MAS 7 SUVs have been registered and delivered to customers nationwide, with 270 units exported to other countries. July also marked a new milestone with 1,365 bookings received, the highest monthly figure since the model’s debut.

“From Day one, our goal has been to offer Malaysians an EV that delivers exceptional comfort, balanced performance, and advanced features at a fair price,” said Zhang Qiang, CEO of PRO-NET. “The sustained demand we are seeing today is the result of that commitment. We are deeply grateful to our customers for placing their trust in PROTON and the e.MAS brand, and for making the e.MAS 7 their Number 1 choice.”

What’s popular?
According to PRO-NET, the e.MAS Prime (priced from RM105,800) accounts for 14% of total deliveries, while the Premium version (priced from RM119,800) makes up the other 86%. Platinum Silver has been the most popular colour choice among the 6 currently offered, representing 25% of all orders. In response to market demand, PROTON has recently introduced a sophisticated Obsidian Black exterior, along with limited units of Turquoise Green and Quartz Rose paired with a premium Alabaster White interior.

Driving patterns
Many people who do not yet own an EV have concerns about range and charging issues but the latest data from PRO-NET shows that the range of up to 410 kms (Primer version) is more than enough. PRO-NET’s studies have found that most Malaysian drivers travel between 21 kms to 40 kms daily. This means that, with average usage, e.MAS 7 owners typically only need to recharge once each week.

As for charging, the network is growing every month and more than 90% of the charging points around the country can be located on the Live Integrated Charging Map available exclusively in e.MAS and smart EVs. That’s over 3,400 charging points, including more than 1,100 points in 930 high-rise residential buildings nationwide.

PRO-NET has worked hard to ensure that there is a comprehensive aftersales support ecosystem, especially with the rapid growth in the e.MAS 7 population. Besides 35 dealerships nationwide, there are now 29 service centres and  body and paint facilities at 10 locations so owners are assured of support.

Power Exchange Programme
Taking the initiative to encourage the shift towards electric mobility, PRO-NET has the Power Exchange programme which offers a RM5,000 bonus on top of the assessed trade-in value of a vehicle – any brand and age – that is traded-in for an e.MAS 7. The only condition is that an inspection is required as well as approval by the relevant authorities.
