The Proton e.MAS 7 EV is speeding ahead of other fully electric models in the market, strengthening its lead in the segment. With a total of 3,632 units (of which 233 units were exported) sold up till the end of May 2025, it has been the No. 1 EV in the country for 5 consecutive months.
The popularity of Proton’s first EV mirrors that of its very first car, the Saga, which also rapidly rocketed to market leadership in the 1980s. Within a short while, the Saga as well as Proton became market leaders in Malaysia and would remain so for many years.
Aftersales support assured
As the number of owners grows, PRO-NET (the subsidiary handling the Proton e.MAS brand) has ensured that aftersales support is readily available. The company continues to expand its aftersales footprint with 6 more 3S centres opening soon, adding to the 24 3S centres already in operation around the country. These outlets are all dedicated Proton e.MAS dealerships so they are fully focussed on EV products.
As part of the Proton e.MAS brand 1st Anniversary celebration, there is a ‘Peace of Mind’ campaign until July 1, 2025. This offers e.MAS 7 owners a complimentary 32-point vehicle inspection. This covers key areas such as brake pads, battery, electronic systems, lighting, tyres, wipers, and air conditioning. The software will also be checked and updated if the owner has not already done so with the OTA (Over-The-Air) update facility.
“The future is electric”
“We are deeply grateful to all Malaysians who have supported Proton e.MAS from the very beginning,” said Zhang Qiang, CEO of PRO-NET. “Your enthusiasm, trust, and belief in our vision have made this journey possible. As we look ahead, we remain committed to making electric mobility more accessible, more reliable, and more Malaysian than ever. The future is electric, and it’s proudly ours to build together.”
