A convoy of Proton e.MAS 7 EVs is leading the ASEAN Unity Drive 2025 (AUD 2025) around ASEAN after having been flagged off on April 22 in Jakarta, Indonesia. Organised by the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii), under the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), and supported by PRO-NET (ProtoN’s new energy vehicle subsidiary) as the main sponsor, AUD 2025 will cover over 9,000 kms across 9 ASEAN nations.
The convoy will make its way through several ASEAN capitals and end at the 2025 Malaysia Auto Show (May 9 – 15) at MAEPS in Serdang, Selangor
Spirit of regional unity and progress
During the event, the spirit of regional unity and progress will be reinforced with every stop. Each destination will feature community engagements and dialogues with local stakeholders to promote EV adoption and advance clean mobility initiatives across ASEAN.
“This initiative is also a step towards harmonizing cross-border EV infrastructure, aligning regulatory frameworks, and promoting investment in sustainable mobility. The ASEAN EV ecosystem will only thrive if governments, industries, and investors come together to create an integrated EV charging station network, standardized policies, and enhanced consumer incentives,” said Azrul Reza Aziz, CEO of MARii.
Supporting region’s green economy
With Malaysia being ASEAN Chair this year, PRO-NET is committed to supporting the region’s green economy and paving the way for a sustainable, interconnected future of mobility and transportation.
“We are proud that the Proton e.MAS 7 has been chosen to lead this important drive. It reflects the advanced engineering behind our EV and PRO-NET’s ongoing commitment to a greener and more connected Southeast Asia,” said Zhang Qiang, Chief Executive Officer of PRO-NET.
The ASEAN Unity Drive 2025 is a bold vision for the future of mobility in the region, championing innovation, sustainability and economic growth, with Malaysia leading ASEAN’s automotive evolution. Through this collective effort, ASEAN is positioning itself to become a global leader in the adoption and innovation of electric vehicles, setting the benchmark for sustainable mobility in developing countries.
