Over 5,000 customers waiting for their new Proton X50

It’s less than a week to the launch of one of Malaysia’s most popular SUVs – the Proton X50 – and over 5,000 customers are waiting to take delivery. That number was received within 10 days, and with a limit of 10,000 set for early booking incentives, there are only 5,000 units left for those who want to enjoy the incentives.

The incentives for early birds who book before the launch on July 24 are a RM1,000 cash rebate, special edition Touch ‘n Go card plus an exclusive GEMPAK! Deal (to be announced on launch day).

Lifestyle-themed launch event
Malaysian group De Fam will spice up the lifestyle-themed launch event with an ‘All-New PROTON X50 Ready” song. The powerhouse girl group will also debut a music video of their specially composed single ‘All-New PROTON X50’ during the event. The song made its public debut on July 5 during the event announcing the opening of bookings for the SUV.

Stocks ready for delivery
“The incredible response we have seen for the All-New Proton X50, truly shows how much Malaysians love this model. We are humbled by the 5,000 bookings received in just 10 days, and to keep the momentum rolling in this final week prior to the launch, we are offering test drives at our outlets so that customers can get a live on-road experience from behind the wheel,” said Zhang Qiang, Deputy CEO of PROTON Edar.

“PROTON’s production team at Tanjong Malim have also worked hard to build up our stock levels to enable the delivery of cars to customers immediately after the launch. The target is to have at least 5,000 units ready for registration by the end of August, which will help manage the time it takes for a customer to receive their vehicle after placing an order,” he added.

3 variants, new engine
Customers have a choice of 3 variants – Executive, Premium and Flagship – all powered by the a new 4-cylinder i-GT 1.5 TD engine with a 7-speed SCT. With 183 ps/290 Nm, factory tests have shown that the new X50 can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.6 seconds, while the cruising range on a full tank can be further as there is a 4.7% improvement in fuel efficiency.
