Northport (Malaysia) Bhd, a utilities and infrastructure group involved in ports and logistics, energy and utilities, engineering, and industrial development, is the first company (and also first port operator) to use the e.MAS 7, Proton’s first fully electric vehicle.
Supporting ESG efforts
The EVs will be used by its auxiliary police patrol fleet at the ports which Northport manages around the country. With the e.MAS 7 in its fleet, Northport reinforces its corporate ESG (environmental, social, and governance) efforts and sustainable transport solutions.
Quiet and emission-free
Being fully electric, the e.MAS 7 brings real benefits to day-to-day patrols. Its smooth and quiet drive helps reduce fatigue for officers during long shifts, while quieter operations lessen noise in the port area. The vehicle’s fast charging capability means it is always ready when needed, and the energy- efficient electric powertrain helps cut down on both fuel costs and emissions. Furthermore, with fewer moving parts compared to a conventional petrol vehicle, it also requires less maintenance.

“At Northport, we are committed to embracing sustainable practices and clean energy solutions. The Proton e.MAS 7 aligns perfectly with our environmental goals and supports our Green Port initiatives and ESG commitments. As a proudly Malaysian port, choosing Proton also reflects our support for local innovation and national industry development. The Proton e.MAS 7 offers the right balance of performance, safety and technology, making it ideal for the demanding needs of our port operations,” said Fakhrul Azhar Tajudin, CEO of Northport.
As more Malaysian businesses and government-linked companies seek to align with national carbon reduction goals, many will be purchasing EVs such as the e.MAS 7 for their transport fleets. Designed with both private and commercial users in mind, the fully electric SUV combines efficiency, driving comfort, and smart functionality in a vehicle that’s ready to meet the evolving needs of the Malaysian market.
