MGS5 EV prices reduced by RM8,000

With duty-exemption for EVs imported in CBU (completely built-up) form to end on December 31, 2025, many companies will be trying to clear stocks before that deadline. Next year, only models which are assembled locally will continue to enjoy the exemption for another 2 years.

In a move probably related to this, SAIC Motor Malaysia today announced revised pricing for the MGS5 EV, reducing by RM8,000 for all three versions. The COM version is now priced at RM107,900 , while the COM Long Range is RM117,900. The top-line LUX Long range is now RM127,900.

Two battery sizes
All versions have rear-mounted motors generating 170 ps/250 Nm. The battery capacities, however, differ with the standard COM version having a 49 kWh capacity and the Long Range having 62 kWh which is also the same for the LUX version. The smaller capacity is said to be good for a range of up to 340 kms, while the bigger one can go up to 430 kms.
