JETOUR, a brand in the Chery Group, is making steady progress with its local assembly plans in Malaysia which are part of the longer term plan to make this country a manufacturing and distribution hub for the ASEAN region.
Operations at Berjaya Assembly
JETOUR Auto Malaysia, the local subsidiary, has chosen Berjaya Assembly (B-Assembly) in Tampoi, Johor to carry out contract assembly of two models. B-Assembly was formerly the Oriental Assemblers plant which assembled for brands such as Honda, Jeep and Peugeot. The plant, which began operations in the late 1960s (as Capital Motors), was acquired in 2016 by Berjaya Assets Bhd for RM32.5 million.
The local assembly operation is housed within B-Assembly’s existing 640,000 sq. ft. facility, supported by a dedicated workforce of more than 100 employees. It is aligned with Malaysia’s automotive ambitions with localisation of parts and systems, creation of skilled employment opportunities, and fostering deeper integration within the local supply chain.
Foundation for broader expansion
“With the full launch of local production, we are proud to deliver high-quality vehicles assembled in Malaysia, reflecting our continued commitment to quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction. This collaboration with B-Assembly also lays a solid foundation for our broader expansion across the ASEAN region,” said JETOUR Auto Malaysia CEO, Fu Yong.
To date, the plant has assembled over 1,000 vehicles, starting with the Jetour Dashing which has been delivered to customers from June 2025, and then the VT9. Both SUVs had been previewed at the Malaysia Auto Show in 2024 and 2025.

“This important milestone reflects our strong confidence in Malaysia as a strategic market for Jetour. The local assembly of the Dashing and VT9 is not only a production advancement but also a significant investment in talent, innovation, and the future potential of mobility in the region,” said JETOUR International Vice-President, Wen Qiangkang.

Moving forward, JETOUR plans to invest approximately RM1.4 billion in Malaysia and will also add more locally-assembled models to its range. One of the models being considered is the T2, a more capable off-road SUV with body-on-chassis frame construction that was traditionally used for 4×4 vehicles.

There are already over 20 service centres across Malaysia ready to support the new owners of the Dashing and VT9. JETOUR Auto Malaysia plans to expand with more than 10 new 4S and 3S centres scheduled to open by the end of 2025. The supply of spare parts is also assured and shipments have already arrived and stocks are being built up.
