Hot Wheels releases racing car from ‘F1 The Movie’

Ahead of the release of ‘F1 The Movie’ from June 25, Hot Wheels has announced today a limited-edition die-cast car inspired by the fictional Apex Grand Prix (APXGP) team. The 1:64 scale Formula 1 die-cast will be available for purchase on MattelCreations.com for £
£30.00 (about RM173) in the UIK.

The latest 1:64 scale model follows last year’s multi-year licensing partnership announcement with Formula 1 and two subsequent sold-out collaborative product pre-order launches.

True to the racing car driven by the character Sonny Hayes in the film, the Hot Wheels casting and the moulded driver’s helmet feature an authentic gold and black livery adorned with Hayes’ number seven.

What’s the movie about?
‘F1, The Movie’ is directed and produced by the same team that did the Top Gun movies. Its main star is Brad Pitt, acting as Sonny Hayes, dubbed “the greatest that never was’. The film starts off with Hayes’ promising racing career in the 1990s until he had an accident. 30 years later, as a racer-for-hire, he is offered a drive with a struggling Apex Grand Prix F1 team that is on the verge of collapse.

The team owner is trying to save the team and convinces Sonny that he should come back to F1 and be the best in the world. What follows is his return to the sport alongside a rookie, and the challenges he faces trying to be at the top.
