GWM Malaysia, which has been operating in Malaysia for 3 years, continues to support the nation’s journey toward intelligent, sustainable, and connected mobility. Its vision is to build long-term value beyond just selling vehicles, advancing its localisation programme to strengthen local industry participation and create a more resilient supply chain.
This commitment underlines GWM’s intent to develop a sustainable business ecosystem that supports local capability building, nurtures skilled employment and contributes to Malaysia’s goal of becoming a regional hub for intelligent new energy vehicles.

GWM Malaysia is showcasing this vision and its achievements to date at the Global Automotive and Technology Expo 2025 (GATE 2025), Malaysia’s leading automotive and technology exhibition that celebrates innovation and the future of mobility. The event is on until November 14 (open to public only on November 14) at the KL Convention Centre.
Hi4 system
The highlight at the GWM Malaysia booth is GWM’s revolutionary Hi4 (Hybrid Intelligent 4-Wheel Drive) system which recently made its debut at the GWM Tech Day in Australia. The Hi4 technology is a next-generation hybrid technology that seamlessly integrates dual-motor 4WD capability with smart energy management to deliver both power and efficiency.

Developed through GWM’s global R&D network, Hi4 balances electric and petrol power intelligently, achieving ‘the performance of 4WD with the efficiency of 2WD’. The system has been tested in extreme global conditions and is suited for Malaysia’s unique roads, tropical climate, and diverse driving habits. It will be offered in future models to be sold in Malaysia.

“Hi4 represents the next step in hybrid innovation. It is technology that makes powerful driving intelligent and efficiency effortless,” said Cui Anqi, Managing Director of GWM Malaysia. “It is the result of global R&D strength, proven engineering, and continuous evolution. With Hi4, we are not just showcasing technology. We are redefining how hybrid mobility feels — smart, smooth, and accessible to everyone.”
Preview of a new MPV
Besides the Hi4 system, GWM Malaysia is also displaying the WEY G9, a luxury MPV equipped with the Hi4 system that will be launched in the market in early 2026. “The GWM WEY G9 will redefine what premium hybrid mobility means for Malaysian families,” said Roslan Abdullah, Chief Operating Officer of GWM Malaysia. “It brings together the best of both worlds that is luxury and technology in a practical, reliable way designed for our roads. For Malaysians, this represents a glimpse of the future where smart mobility is not just a privilege but a daily reality.”

The WEY G9 is a notable success in China, with sales exceeding 10,000 units in October 2025, making it a strong contender for the No. 1 MPV position across petrol, hybrid, and EV segments. This achievement reinforces the G9’s global reputation for premium craftsmanship, advanced technology, and Hi4 intelligent hybrid power, which have won the trust of consumers worldwide.
