EON will open new Hyundai dealerships in the Klang Valley and Penang during the first half of 2026.
- EON, better known for its association with Proton, also represents European and Japanese automotive brands.
As Hyundai Motor Malaysia (HMY) revitalises the Korean automaker’s business in Malaysia, it aims to grow the retail footprint of the brand which has been in the market since the early 1990s. To achieve this, it is teaming up with Edaran Otomobil Nasional Berhad (EON) which will establish and operate authorised Hyundai dealerships.
The two companies signed a Letter of Intent (LOI), marking the beginning of their collaboration. The agreement signifies Hyundai’s ongoing commitment to the Malaysian market, reinforcing its long-term commitment not only through presence, but through sustained customer value, service excellence and enhanced accessibility.

Under the LOI, Hyundai and EON will jointly develop two new Hyundai dealerships in the high-growth, high-demand regions of the Klang Valley and Penang. Both new outlets will open for business during the first half of 2026.
According to the statement by HMY, the locations were identified based on strong market potential, rising customer interest, and, interestingly, ‘increasing hybrid adoption trends’. This suggests that HMY is looking at adding new electrified hybrid models to its range soon
“This collaboration is not just about growth, but it’s about building trust and delivering value to Malaysians for the long term. We are grateful to EON for joining us on this journey, as their established reputation and nationwide presence make them an invaluable partner. By working together, we are combining global innovation with local expertise to bring customers greater accessibility, service excellence, and a retail network that can grow sustainably,” said Jahabarnisa Haja Mohideen, Managing Director of Hyundai Motor Malaysia.
About EON
EON is, of course, a familiar name to Malaysians, having been the company established at the same time as PROTON 40 years ago to handle the distribution and marketing of the national cars.
Part of the DRB-HICOM Group, EON began broadening its portfolio of automotive brands in the early 2000s. Besides having a subsidiary called Euromobil to represent Audi, it also formed a joint venture with Mitsubishi Corporation to establish Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia in 2005. Other brands that it represents are Daihatsu, Inokom, Isuzu, Proton e.MAS, smart, Suzuki and Volkswagen.

“This collaboration reflects EON’s continuous pursuit for new opportunities to shape Malaysia’s mobility future. And in line with our guiding principle ‘Passion Drives Possibilities’, we look forward to having Hyundai as one of our brands to enable us to deliver even greater value to our customers,” said Akkbar Danial, Chief Executive Officer of EON Berhad.
