Quick look
-
The Xforce is an all-new compact SUV which is the successor to the ASX. Launch date in Malaysia is unknown but should be during the first quarter of the year.
-
The SUV has been developed for the road conditions and floods characteristic of the ASEAN region.
-
Only a 1.5-litre MIVEC engine with a CVT is available but there are 4 drive mode options to enhance stability and grip.
A large shipment of Mitsubishi SUVs has been spotted being loaded for delivery, and from the pictures we have seen, it’s the Xforce which is on sale in some neighbouring countries.
When asked about the model, we got only a vague answer from Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (‘please be patient – we’ll let you know soon’). With the Chinese New Year next month, perhaps the model will be launched before then for those who want something brand new to celebrate.

In the absence of any information being given by MMM, we’ll have to speculate on what to expect based on the specifications of the Xforce sold in neighbouring countries where it has been progressively launched over the past year.
Successor to ASX
The Xforce is a 5-seater compact SUV with dimensions almost identical to the discontinued ASX. It’s primarily been developed for ASEAN markets so it is designed to handle the road conditions and floods characteristic of many areas of the region.

As can be seen from the pictures, the front end has the latest Dynamic Shield face which identifies it as a member of the Mitsubishi Motors family. The bold and aggressive look first appeared on the Outlander in 2016 and has been used on every new model thereafter, including the Triton and XPANDER.

Proven MIVEC engine
Although the Xforce is available in some markets with an electrified powertrain, it is likely that it will be offered in Malaysia with a 1.5-litre DOHC 16-valve MIVEC engine and a CVT, initially at least. The 105 ps engine, already used in the XPANDER. is a proven unit that is reliable, robust and efficient.

4-wheel drive technology
Although the Xforce doesn’t have AWD, Mitsubishi Motors’ engineers have used their extensive experience in 4-wheel drive technology to develop 4-wheel control technology to enhance the road handling of this SUV which has only front-wheel drive.

The driver can choose from 4 drive modes of Normal, Wet, Gravel and Mud according to surface conditions. The system then employs Active Yaw Control (AYC) which adjusts the driving force on the front left and right wheels to improve controllability, traction control that controls tyre skidding, engine control, and power steering control.

MMM has not said when bookings will be accepted by authorised dealers but if you like what you see and think of owning one in 2026, visit a Mitsubishi Motors dealer and let them know of your interest.
