Bookings now accepted for locally-assembled XPENG G6

With the government’s new condition for EVs imported in CBU (completely built-up) form to be not less than RM200,000 (CIF), those automakers that want to have competitive prices for their models will need to consider local assembly which does not have the condition.

Some automakers had already made plans earlier as the duty-exemption for CBU EVs would expire at the end of 2025, with the exemption continuing only for models assembled in Malaysia.

Automakers like Chery (including iCAUR and JAECOO), TQ WULING and Mercedes-Benz and Volvo started early so in 2026, they have locally-assembled models which can be sold for less than RM200,000.

The latest to join the list is XPENG, represented by Bermaz XPENG Sdn Bhd, which has begun rolling out the XPENG G6 Ultra Smart Coupe SUV which is assembled by EP Manufacturing Berhad in Melaka under contract.

3 versions from RM158,888
The G6 is offered in 3 versions – RWD Standard Range priced at RM158,888; followed RWD Long Range at RM178,888; and AWD Performance variant at RM189,888 (prices for West Malaysia, excluding insurance).

Built upon the brand’s SEPA 2.0 architecture, the G6’s core technical attributes include 800V electrical architecture for faster recharging. The high-voltage battery can be recharged from 10% to 80% in a claimed 12 minutes under optimal conditions with a DC charger.

All three versions come with XPENG’s ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) known as the XPILOT Assist system. This includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Centering Control, and Autonomous Parking Assist.

Prices maintained for accessibility
According to Dato’ Sri Francis Lee, Group CEO of Bermaz Auto Berhad, keeping the pricing structure identical to the CBU units allows intelligent electric mobility to remain accessible to a broader base of Malaysian.

“XPENG’s leadership in AI-driven mobility aligns with Malaysia’s direction to strengthen domestic EV capabilities and build a competitive, future ready ecosystem. With local assembly of the G6 now underway, we are proud to offer Malaysian customers a smart EV that combines advanced technology with the added value of domestic production,” he said.

Bookings are now being accepted at authorized Bermaz XPENG showrooms nationwide, with the first customer deliveries scheduled to commence in August 2026. For a limited time, those who book a locally-assembled G6 will receive a complimentary wallbox home charger valued at RM5,000, along with insurance coverage support worth up to RM5,000.
