While car buyers would be its main focus, UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) also has ongoing efforts to engage with communities outside the traditional automotive sphere. Activities such as the long-running Toyota Eco Youth program and ‘Start Your Impossible’ Outrun are examples which highlights the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility and fosters active lifestyles.
The latest initiative in human-centric connections is the Toyota Malaysia Pickle Tour 2026. This upcoming multi-state campaign introduces a structured nationwide tour for one of the country’s fastest-growing recreational sports.

Venues in East and West Malaysia
The tournament series features a total prize pool of RM175,000, distributed across 5 distinct locations spanning East and West Malaysia. The tour is scheduled to begin in East Malaysia, opening at STAR Pickleball in Kuching, Sarawak, from August 1 to 2, followed by a stop at Pickleground in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, from August 15 to 16.
The event then moves to Peninsular Malaysia, stopping at Play! in Johor Bahru from September 5 to 6, before heading north to Pickle By the Sea in Georgetown, Penang, from September 19 to 20. The final leg will take place in the Klang Valley at the PLAYA Racquet Club in Subang Jaya from September 26 to 27.

Operating under a specific competitive format, the event requires individual players to submit solo entries, after which the organizer assigns participants into balanced teams. This structure emphasizes collective strategy and shared execution over individual standalone performance, aligning with the manufacturer’s broader global philosophy of generating community-wide well-being and social interaction through sport.
Shared experiences for communities
Datuk Ravindran K., President of UMW Toyota Motor, said that the initiative is an extension of the company’s commitment to accessibility and shared experiences that support physical, social, and emotional development. He noted that by establishing a footprint across both regional divisions of the country, the organization aims to broaden participation, cultivate team dynamics, and build a sense of community identity around the sport.
“By taking pickleball beyond a single centre of activity, we hope to open the court to more Malaysians and create an experience built on confidence, team spirit and the shared happiness of playing together,” he said.
The tournament is open to Malaysian participants from the age of 7 and above, encompassing both junior and adult categories. For individuals and families who prefer a non-competitive introduction to the sport, the organizer will also host open play sessions and dedicated instructional clinics at each venue.
Financial rewards at each venue
A strict prize allocation structure applies to each of the 5 tour stops, with cash rewards and official medals designated for the top ten placing teams at every location. The highest-ranked team will secure the Champion position, receiving RM10,000 and gold medals. The second-place finishers will receive RM8,000 alongside silver medals, while the third-place spot carries a reward of RM6,000 and bronze medals.

Financial rewards continue down the rankings, with fourth place receiving RM4,000 and fifth place receiving RM2,000, both accompanied by participation medals. Teams finishing from sixth to tenth place will each be awarded RM1,000 along with participation medals.
Due to strict venue capacities, entry registration for each location is subject to specific participant limits. Comprehensive documentation regarding technical regulations, registration timelines, and instructional clinic schedules has been made available on the official event portal at https://pickleball.toyota.com.my .
