Quick look:
- Assembled locally, the TIGGO 9 is the first all-wheel drive model in the Chery range in Malaysia, as well as the brand’s first D-segment SUV.
In February this year, Chery Malaysia announced that it would launch at least 5 new models during 2026. And we were also told the sequence, with a new variant of the TIGGO 8 being the first one.

The second one would ‘redefine flagship luxury’ and tonight, in the historic heart of Kuala Lumpur – Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad – the TIGGO 9 is launched. This is a D-segment SUV with 3 rows of seating, positioning it as the flagship of the range and largest model in the TIGGO line-up.
The 7-seater SUV, assembled locally at Inokom in Kedah, marks a visible move into the upper-tier family mobility segment, emphasizing enhanced interior space and upgraded technology over the smaller crossovers.

Intelligent all-wheel drive system
Powering the large SUV is a 2.0-litre TGDi turbocharged direct-injection petrol engine. Power output is 256 ps/390 Nm, delivered through a 7-speed DSC. To manage power distribution, Chery has paired the powerplant with an Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system. This is the first AWD model in the local Chery range.

Drivers can select from 7 different driving modes to optimize traction and stability across varied road surfaces, providing necessary adaptability for both daily urban commuting and long-distance highway travel.

3 rows of seats
Inside the cabin, the emphasis is clearly on occupant comfort with spacious accommodation. The driver is provided with a 10-way power-adjustable seat with a Head-Up Display for ‘hands on steering wheel, eyes ahead’ driving.

Both the driver and front passenger seats include heating, ventilation, and massage functions. Second-row passengers have not been overlooked, receiving ventilated seating to maintain a comfortable cabin environment during longer journeys in local weather conditions.

The dashboard is dominated by a 15.6-inch 2.5K ultra-high-definition display screen. The infotainment system runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chipset, a processing unit chosen for smooth menu transitions and responsive touch control.
Automated parking assistance
Concurrently, the TIGGO 9 introduces Auto Park Assist to the local TIGGO range, a feature intended to assist drivers when manoeuvring the large vehicle into tight parking spots. While this isn’t new and has been available for over 12 years in other models, its usefulness in Malaysian conditions is questionable.

As with other Chery models, there’s ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) to Level 2.5 which is composed of 23 active safety systems, plus SRS airbags surrounding the front and sides of the cabin (including the third row).
