Daniel Craig to undertake missions for DENZA

Quick look

  • Daniel Craig, best known for his role as James Bond, will take on missions for DENZA as a brand ambassador.

The partnership, which starts with the Z9GT to be launched in France next month, is part of the BYD premium brand’s global push this year.

Daniel Craig, who portrayed James Bond for 15 years – from Casino Royale in 2006 to No Time to Die in 2021 – is now going to be the ‘face’ of a Chinese auto brand – DENZA. What would 007 (and even Q) say?

While Bond has driven many types of cars since we first met him in ‘Dr. No’ in 1962, including his beloved Aston Martin DB5 which was shot to pieces in ‘Spectre’ and then restored for the final Craig movie. With all its fancy weapons built in, that Aston Martin was probably the best remembered of all his cars.

The Aston Martin DB5 frequently appeared in James Bond movies, right up to the final one with Daniel Craig, who played the part of James Bond for 15 years.

Global push by DENZA
Daniel Craig – you can’t help but think of James Bond when you see him – is now going to be an ambassador for BYD’s premium EV brand. The partnership coincides with a global push this year, targeting markets across Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa. It’s already in Southeast Asia, having entered Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore over the past few years.

“As we bring the brand to the world, we are proud to welcome an actor whose presence and character reflect the spirit of DENZA. Daniel Craig represents a powerful combination of strength, sophistication and authenticity,” said BYD Executive Vice-President, Stella Li.

“Together, we want to show how technology, design and emotion can come together to create a new vision of premium mobility,” she said.

DENZA Sime Motors
DENZA is already in Southeast Asia and entered Malaysia in February 2025. This year will see the brand making a big push globally.

Craig’s mission for DENZA will be extensive, lending his image to several key models being launched this year, including a series of high-profile marketing campaigns and television commercials.

DENZA Z9GT EV [2025]
The Z9GT was previewed in Malaysia in February 2025 when the DENZA brand was launch. But at that time, there was no righthand drive version yet.
The Z9GT has been making appearances around Malaysia since the brand launch early in 2025.

First mission with Z9GT
Craig’s first mission will be with the Z9GT, which is the brand’s flagship model. With the new tri-motor e3 platform, the Z9GT has secret agent-pleasing performance – 960 horsepower, 0 to 100 km/h in under 3 seconds. Its new Blade battery also recharges for hundreds of kilometres of range within minutes.

We can only imagine the conversation at MI6:
“Q, I need something subtle. Sophisticated. Powerful. But this being the age of eco-consciousness, it must also have a low carbon footprint and be super quiet.”

“Right away, 007. We’ve prepped a DENZA Z9GT. Sorry, it doesn’t have machine guns and an ejection seat, but it does have 1,500 kW Flash Charging. You can fully recharge from 10% to 70% in 5 minutes — just enough time to finish a vodka martini.”

BYD’s FLASH Charging system breaks records with a 10% to 70% charging time in just 5 minutes (reaching 97% in 9 minutes). The Z9GT is one of the first models to have the new technology and when its 122 kWh battery is fully charged, a range of up to 800 kms is claimed.

“DENZA’s latest global campaign marks an exciting moment for the brand as it continues to grow its international presence, and it is equally meaningful for us here in Malaysia as we prepare for the next phase of the brand locally. The upcoming DENZA Z9GT represents the very best of what DENZA stands for, bringing together advanced technology, refined craftsmanship, elevated safety, and sophisticated design. We look forward to sharing more with Malaysian customers as we continue to grow the DENZA brand in Malaysia,” said Jacob Ma, Managing Director of BYD Malaysia.
