The Proxes Comfort range of tyres by Toyo Tires has been developed to handle the additional demands of EVs.

Because EVs don’t have engine noise, they are quieter and the Proxes Comfort tyres have also been engineered for lower noise levels.
Over the past 4 years, the number of electrified vehicles has grown significantly, with a 300% increase recorded (according to data.gov.my). This has been driven by the government’s push to switch to electric mobility as one of the ways to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. Incentives such as duty-exemption have been given for EVs, encouraging faster adoption.

While EVs look like other cars on the road which have internal combustion engines, they noticeably differ in weight due to the presence of a large battery pack, and the electric motors also generate very high torque from low speeds. This creates new challenges for tyre engineers to ensure efficiency, durability and safety.
Designed for Malaysian conditions
Like other global tyremakers, Toyo Tires has developed tyres to meet these challenges and with the steady growth of EVs in Malaysia, new products are being introduced which have also been tailored for the local environment.
Toyo Tires will introduce 3 new tyres under its Proxes series over the next 3 years, each developed to support the performance demands of modern mobility. Proxes Comfort is the first model launched under this strategy, marking a key milestone in Toyo Tires’ product roadmap in Malaysia,” said Tan Song Chye, President and Managing Director of Toyo Tyre Sales And Marketing Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.

Engineered in Japan
Engineered in Japan, the Proxes Comfort incorporates several technical advancements designed to address the specific environmental challenges of the Malaysian climate, such as frequent heavy rainfall and high-speed highway transit.
The tyre utilizes a Dynamic Taper Design within its tread pattern to ensure that the grooves maintain a consistent footprint on the road surface. This design choice prevents the tread blocks from deforming under heavy loads, which improves overall pressure distribution and enhances block stiffness during sudden manoeuvres or emergency stops.

Performance benchmarks show a measurable safety upgrade over the previous Proxes CF2. Specifically, the new tyre achieves an 8% reduction in dry braking distance and a 13% reduction in wet braking distance.
Beyond stopping power, the tyre’s internal architecture features an optimized profile that minimizes strain on the bead and belt edges. This reinforcement is intended to provide greater lateral stability during lane changes and cornering, even when the vehicle is operating under varying load conditions.

EV-optimised
Suitable for passenger cars and SUVs, the Proxes Comfort starts off with 14 sizes for rim diameters ranging from 16 to 19 inches. Most feature Extra Load (XL) ratings, supporting the higher weight requirements of electrified vehicles. Among the available sizes, 11 are EV-ready, with ride comfort and noise reduction rated 5/5, including EV-optimised noise performance.
Designed primarily for B, C, and E segment vehicles, the Proxes Comfort range has recommended retail prices from RM279 to RM698. They are available at Toyo Tires dealers nationwide (click here to locate a dealer).
