Perodua launches P-Circle superapp as prelude to EV launch

Perodua today launched a superapp as a prelude to the launch of its first EV next month. Known as P-Circle, the superapp not only complements ownership of the EV but can also serve as a virtual assistant for Malaysians.

“The P-Circle offers mobility as a lifestyle as all its offerings cover a significant portion of our online services engagement under one super app,” Perodua President & Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Sri Zainal Abidin Ahmad said.

More than just apps for motoring
Part of Perodua’s introduction of ‘Mobility as a Service’ (MaaS), P-Circle offers more than just apps for motoring. While some other brands already have dedicated apps, these are mainly focussed on functionality with the car and sales/aftersales services.

Apart from connectivity with the EV, Perodua’s P-Circle superapp has many more apps for entertainment, map navigation, personal health

P-eDuit e-wallet
There is also a proprietary e-wallet (P-eDuit) which can be used to pay the fees at charging stations. Perodua is working on building up the list of partners which accept P-eDuit to pay for products or services.

“This feature will be useful for those looking to own our first EV (electric vehicle) as we have made an agreement with all charging point operators to agree to accept payments from our P-eDuit e-wallet,” said Dato’ Sri Zainal.

A smartwatch is also on sale by Perodua which is customised to connect to P-Circle.

For iOS and Android devices
P-Circle is now available for free download from the App Store and Play store for iOS and Android devices.

At the event launching the P-Circle superapp, Perodua also displayed a concept model of a mobile charger. No details have been provided but it will be part of the automaker’s Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) business.
